Internet Identity Workshop (IIW) Joins the Web of Trust Map as Co-Contributor
The Internet Identity Workshop (IIW), a cornerstone of decentralized identity innovation since its founding in 2005, has joined the Web of Trust Map as a co-contributor. By bringing key players together and creating a platform for discussion, IIW is known for its pivotal role in advancing user-centric identity standards and fostering collaboration among identity experts. Through their contribution, IIW brings its expertise to the Web of Trust Map initiative, strengthening the map as a resource for understanding the scope of the decentralized identity space.
IIW: A Hub for Leadership in Decentralized Identity
For nearly two decades, IIW has been a driving force in shaping the decentralized identity landscape. Its semi-annual unconference gathers technologists, researchers, and advocates to collaborate on identity protocols prioritizing user sovereignty and privacy. The workshop has played a direct role in the development of influential standards, including OpenID Connect, OAuth, Verifiable Credentials, and Decentralized Identifiers.
“A lot of the data we collected points back to this seminal group, and we are honored to have their blessing and help in making the Web of Trust map the best it can be. This does great work toward raising awareness of where we have come from, and pointing forward to the exciting growth of our space to come. Without the triple threat trio of Doc, Phil, and Kaliya, this, in many ways, would not be possible. ” said Nicholas Racz, Senior Partner at Key State Capital.
The Web of Trust Map: how IIW is supporting a vision for an interoperable ecosystem
In a collaborative spirit, IIW contributed to the Web of Trust Map by offering functional feedback and ensuring data accuracy. Their contribution involved a thorough review of the projects, connections, and people in the map, with the goal of ensuring the data is precise. This partnership was based on a shared vision for industry progress. By joining the Web of Trust Map as a co-contributor, IIW continues its mission of advancing digital identity solutions through collaboration and open standards.
The Web of Trust Map, developed by Key State Capital (KSC), gives a complete picture of the decentralized identity ecosystem by visualizing its exponential growth and interconnectedness. It provides comprehensive data on over 270 identity projects, 170 blockchains, and thousands of individuals and entities.
The Web of Trust Map is a valuable resource for understanding the industry’s structure and dynamics by mapping relationships, technology stacks, and interoperability. This initiative fills the need for in-depth research, reliable data, and collective knowledge to foster a deeper understanding of the evolution and scope of the decentralized identity space.
